One of the great things about East Hartford is that we are always looking for ways to maximize our opportunities. When the people of East Hartford decided to build a new public safety facility for its police and fire departments, they also took the opportunity to further the objective of enhancing our downtown. The new public safety facility will be an 89,740 square foot structure, whihc utilizes the existing Police Department and Board of Education site onBurnside Avenue. As part of the project, the Board of Education will move to Main Street into the former Town Hall Inn, a historic structure, which in recent times had become a "run down" SRO.
---The result will be the renovation of a beautiful historic structure into "state-of-the-art" offices, creation of an attraction for downtown and the elimination of a blighting influence on the area.
